The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation provides professionals with an extensive understanding of estate planning and wealth transfer. The CLU provides professionals with the information necessary to provide advice to individuals, families and business owners. The CLU curriculum focuses on applied estate planning, insurance laws and taxes, and applications of insurance. Individuals must complete five core courses and three elective courses, and successfully pass all eight two-hour, 100 question examinations in order to receive the designation.
